CT LABS TEAMS WITH EXTREME NETWORKS
IN NEW VOIP TEST LAB

Extreme Networks assists CT Labs with
cutting-edge switching platforms testing VoIP and IMS devices

SANTA CLARA and ROCKLIN, Calif.; November 14, 2006  —  Extreme Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXTR) and CT Labs, the converged communication industry’s most recognized independent test lab, today announced that the two are teaming to place Extreme Networks’ high performance Summit® line of fixed Gigabit Ethernet switches in CT’s lab test network core.

CT Labs performance tests and testing reports are in high demand in the Voice over IP (VoIP) and IMS industries serving both enterprise and carrier-grade network equipment. Ex-treme Networks product platforms will be used to interconnect a wide variety of VoIP and IMS products with WAN emulators, traffic generators, and test equipment used to emulate challenging, real-world network conditions.

For over eight years CT Labs, an independent operating unit of Empirix Inc., has provided automation-based tests that help manufacturers verify performance and rated capacities for their next-generation network products. Examples include verifying voice quality, packet performance, and reliability for enterprise network VoIP- and IMS-enabled devices such as IP PBXs, firewalls, routers, and intrusion prevention devices at call densities from hundreds to thousands of simultaneous calls. CT Labs also tests high-capacity service provider and car-rier-grade network products at ultra-high density traffic levels commonly found in next-generation network cores, including new IMS architectures that are rapidly gaining momen-tum with VoIP and video service offerings.

“When we began the process of evaluating switch vendors for our next-generation network performance test lab, we came with a carefully–considered list of performance and manage-ment requirements,” said Chris Bajorek, Director of CT Labs. “After evaluating Extreme Networks’ solutions, we concluded they were well-positioned to handle the wide range of demanding traffic flows that are the hallmarks of our tests. We’re excited to be including Ex-treme Networks products in our new lab infrastructure plans.”

“Extreme Networks provides highly available, sophisticated Ethernet solutions that build the network foundation for advanced converged applications,” said Scott Lucas, senior director of solutions marketing for Extreme Networks. “We are thrilled to be assisting CT Labs with VoIP and IMS performance testing and hope to further innovations in this highly promising arena.”
